SnowPhilly!

Yesterday was  a REAL snow day; comparable to our winter snows?  Nah, it was just a little snowstorm or was it?  Some 300,000 people were without power here in Pennsylvania and if you are one of those folks, this was no mere snow shower.  I can tell you that after driving some 40 years and often time in the worst of snow storms, yesterday I had the worst driving experience ever!  I had to drive on the turnpike to take dd back to college.  What a disaster!  What about snow and ice on the road don't folks understand?  There was standing water and because the temperature of the road was warm, the ice and snow mixture was a total mess.  Most of us were driving about 35 mph.  An SUV (driven by a total idiot)  traveling much faster felt the need to get  between me and the vehicle in front of me and in doing so slossed up a virtual WALL of slush that covered my windshield for at least a couple minutes.  I was driving blind and the only thing that kept me from crashing into the WALL BARRIER was that the right shoulder has a rough edge to the road so that a driver knows he/she is about to drive off the lane into the shoulder area.  There wasn't any shoulder, but I used that ridge (keeping the right tires along that bumpy edge) to guide me as I continued to drive.  Of course I took my foot off the accelerator!  But that scared the crap out of me for sure.  It really shook me up...  Oh well, I made it with the Grace of God!
So here are some pictures of the road that dd took as we spent two hours getting to her school - normally it takes about 30 to 40 minutes to get there.





It isn't winter yet!!!!!  whiny voice!!!  lol...


Trees still have foliage and haven't really changed color fully...they snapped and were down all over the area because of the heavy snow and high winds!

WHAT'S MY NAME?

Dawn of "As Sweet As Cinnamon"  ... IS just the sweetest, nicest blogger I know (and I know quite a few really sweet people, lol)  wants to know how  I came to name my blog "VERSANA" .    Long story ,  okay, the short story is that I'm a zany, crazy kind of gal.  Raising three children and a husband, passionately sewing, creating and oh yeah, collecting fabric AND working the streets  of the big city everyday for some twenty years as a street cop makes you a little wild and crazy...just a little.  So when I was searching my brain for just the right name for a blog, the word crazy (in a fun kind of way) was foremost in my thoughts.  But, I can't be just an ordinary crazy so I asked my kids what one word (or maybe a couple) came to their minds when they thought of me.  Take my advice, never ask your kids a question like that!  lol... My oldest, a Latin scholar quickly diffused the situation by suggesting "Versana" ...  I hurried to look it up, cuz she just wouldn't tell me what it meant.  It means "WILD" like a whirlwind!  You know...that IS what my household and life has been (my poor children), so Versana it is!   Cuzzzz, I AM  WILD AND CRAZY !!!  just ask my kids...grin!
